What a day...

Whew! Mother Nature sure wasn't nice to us yesterday!
We decided to go to the beach and camp out for a few days...
It has been seriously scorching here the past week, and playing in the salty water, clamming and crabbing and getting fried sounded like SO MUCH FUN! We looked forward to it all week long.
The night before we left, there were some lightning storms-but it was still very warm and the next day seemed like it would be like the rest (or so we thought!).
We got to the coast, the whole drive there were rainstorms and thunderstorms! It was chilly and miserable with the sun peeking out every once in a while. Now, we have gone to the beach like this plenty of times and the sun always made its way out by the time we got to the beach...No such luck this time! We hadn't packed for such cold weather, we ended up stopping at a yard sale and buying Scott a jacket for $5! (I am always chilly, so I had a sweatshirt in the van already from the last trip we took)
We got to Netarts and put the boat in the water-the day had to get better, right? LOL!
We threw out the crab ring with a brand new orange bouy as the tide was going out. Nothing new there...we went and walked on the beach and waited for tide to get lower, looking for sanddollars-didn't find any. Went back out to where we threw the ring and...WHERE DID IT GO? It disappeared! Seriously, I think it went out into the ocean!!!
We drove the boat around for a while then decided to go around to the other side of the bay and check out the clamming spot by the oyster sandbar we have been to previously. It was chilly and wet, but we were there so what the heck. The seals were out swimming around, looking for food in the low tide and 'sunning' themselves on the beaches with the sea gulls. We landed on a sandy island and pulled the boat out of the water and went walking onto the beach clamming. All of a sudden it was like Mother Nature was pissed off at the world-because she started to blow so hard it was unbelievable! I almost fell over a few times, it came out of nowhere!! I look up and what do I see? All of our stuff from the boat floating in the water and the boat floating away!! The wind had flipped the boat, the gas tank was even floating. I yelled for Scott and we both went running as fast as we could!! We put all of our soaked stuff back into the boat and got in and had a rough, windy ride back to the dock. We couldn't believe it!
We decided we were going to go home, screw this! We were cold and wet and this wasn't what we had been looking forward to-we went to see if we could find our crab ring one last time (about the 5th time!) and the tide was still going out, we found someones old rope buried in the sand, and I did find a sanddollar...but no crab ring or float. Bummer!
We loaded up and went home--downhearted but warmer! We decided to clean house and 'veg' at home for the next couple of days before kids were back, in peace and quiet. I did get my daughters room clean and organized, but that is another long, dirty story! LOL
I only got one picture of the weekend at the beach...Maybe we'll have better luck next time? (for some reason it won't let me post it)
Hope you all had a better weekend than I! Until next time, xo~B
